Leslie Morgan
I have been singing all my life! Music was important to my family. I was exposed to all different kinds of music from 40s swing and jazz to current hits. I began singing in church and then sang in my elementary choir. My first solo was not really a solo...I clucked like a chicken to the jazz favorite "In the Mood" in my third grade talent show! I knew then that I loved being on stage and it became very important to me. I went on to sing solos in school and church.
When it came time to go to college I couldn't think of anything else I'd rather do than "be" in music. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do to "be" in music so I chose a performance path knowing I would figure it all out. So, I got my Bachelor of Music at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. I continued my performance education at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky and received my Master of Music in vocal performance also. I then got married and moved to Atlanta and received my Teaching Certification at Georgia State University. Lastly, I went to Lincoln Memorial University in Cleveland, Tennessee in 2004 and accomplished my Education Specialist in Leadership and Administration, Ed.S.
My singing and performing credits include community musical theater, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus (1994-2001) including singing at the opening ceremonies of the 1996 Olympics, and church soloist throughout the southeast. I have even won a few Grammy Awards with the Symphony!
So you see I love two things: music and school! What better way to be involved in those loves than be a music teacher? I am in my 16th year teaching in the public school system. I have been here at Wilson Creek since we opened in 2004. I love teaching here.
There is one thing I love more than teaching music and that is of course my family! I have a sweet husband and two awesome sons. Oh, and I cannot forget our Labradoodles, Lady Dolly Belle of Sugar Mill and Loretta LoLo Lynn!
I look forward to getting to know you and your parents as that is very important to me. You'll hear me promise in class to know your name by Thanksgiving time...all 600 or so of you! :-)
Let's make some wonderful musical memories together!
Love,
Mrs. Morgan
