Kindergarten Georgia Performance Standards include:
Singing and learning to use “head voice”
Perform steady beat on body and instruments
Create new texts for familiar melodies
Identify basic instruments and vocal sounds
Respond to music with gross locomotor and non-locomotor movements.
First Georgia Performance Standards include:
Singing including echoing
Echo simple rhythmic patterns
Steady beat
Discovering sound sources
Developing music vocabulary
Moving to music from different cultures
Grades 2-5 (2nd and 3rd-Standards based report card)
—A 90 and above —B 80-89 —C 70-79 —F Below 70 --
70% Performance Proficiencies: classwork, projects, observation rubrics, oral response,
—30% Assessments: written tests/quizzes
Second Georgia Performance Standards include:
Singing
Playing instruments
Composing
Reading rhythmic notation and simple melodic notation
Understanding music in relation to history and culture
Third Georgia Performance Standards include:
Singing within the range of an octave including canons, rounds, partner songs.
Play rhythms while other students sing or play contrasting parts.
Composing rhythm patterns
Identify classroom, folk, and orchestral instruments by sight and sound.
Fourth Georgia Performance Standards include:
Singing-including other languages
Performing simple melodic patterns (accomplished with recorder class)
Reading rhythm in various meters
Composing rhythmic and melodic motives
Understanding music in relation to history and culture
We will be performing a mini-musical in correlation to the Westward expansion unit in Social Studies!
Fifth Georgia Performance Standards include:
Singing expressively in response to the conductor
Perform simple accompaniments on melodic and rhythmic instruments
Notate simple melodies within a treble staff
Expanded music vocabulary
Identify and experience the musical styles of jazz, musical theater and opera.
Performs at 5th grade finale ceremony!
